Taking pictures with you to a hairstylist?

After a bad haircut experience I chose not to cut my hair but now after a yr I want to get a haircut because my hair has no style and looks horrible...

I have a specific hairstyle in mind....I found some pictures of the perfect hair cut but Im wondering will a stylist laugh at me for taking pics? whats the etiquette for presenting pics( I dont want to offend them)

Also, does anyone know of some amazing hairstylist in the city of Chicago??

i would much rather see a pic of something. i hate it when people try to explain something and they really have it all wrong when they try to tell you what they are looking for. example: "i want a wedge" when in reality they wanted a stacked bob......BIG DIFFERENCE!

when you don't have a pic is when you are setting yourself up to get something you don't want. i would even ask for the stylist that is the best with that particular style so you have a better chance of being satisfied!

No they wouldn't laugh cuz i know ppl who does that its better then tell them wat hair style u want, cuz one time i went to get my hair cut and layered i told them not to cut pass my shoulder and they did.. lol but 1 and half year later my hair covers down to my butt xD

pictures are probablly the only way they'll see what you really want done......if you tell them....there is a high chance they might still mess it up;.....and once you find the perfect stylist....stick with him or her..

They are not gonna laugh at you! Just tell the stylist thats how you want your hair to be cut. I don't live in Chicago so I don't know the good place...

Trust me a stylist won't laugh at you [why would they?] It's an excellent idea to bring pics to show them what you're looking for. I think they probably appreciate it because it actually gives them a visual of exactly how you want it to look.

Hello. YES I can tell you that as a hairstylist we appreciate pictures. Don't ever feel bad for showing your hairstylist exactly what you . A picture helps us to understand what the client has in mind. If he/she seems offended....look for someone else becuase they are wanting to do what they want and not what you want. Hope this helps!!

No, pictures are great, just understand that if you show them a picture of something that can't be done with the hair you already have, they will try to explain it to you, and you shouldn't get upset or offended because they can only do what is possible with what they're working with. They may be able to suggest something similar though with your hair.

And no real etiquette needed; usually they'll ask you in the beginning what you're wanting done, and that is when you would say "something like this..." and show them the picture.

I always take in a picture because I am very bad at describing a hair style. Also, my stylist can look at the picture and adapt the style for my hair texture.
